In this lesson you will learn how to install WordPress CMS on your web-site. Basically there are 2 ways:
- Download the WP Package from wordpress.org and upload it to your site using FTP program
- Install WordPress using Fantastico De Luxe option in the Control Panel (cPanel) of your site
The first method will require more time. First you will need to go to the official web-site of the WordPress CMS which is http://wordpress.org. Then download the installation package and unzip it on your PC in some folder. By using your favorite FTP program (Filezilla or CuteFTP) simply select all the files (CTRL+A) and upload them to your site (or maybe to a sub-domain like in the video). Now refresh your site. You will see the installation page. Go to your cPanel – http://YOURSITE.COM/cpanel and create database with username and a strong password. Put all the information in .txt file and keep it in a safe place. Then go back to your site and fill in the information required for the installation. The last step is to give your site a title, description and choose an e-mail that WordPress will use to send you important messages. And that is it! Go to your http://YOURSITE.COM/wp-admin and configure your site as you wish!
The second method for installing WordPress in my opinion is the easiest one! Simply go to your cPanel – http://YOURSITE.COM/cpanel and find the Fantastico icon. Click on it and fill in the information required – in less than 1 minute you will have a fresh WordPress site! Do not forget to update your WordPress to the latest version with fixed bugs and errors – this is essential for your future SEO efforts and security purposes!
